Away from India’s better-known wildlife parks are two hidden gems – Satpura and Tadoba-Andhari. Less visited than other parks, both are seeing increased sightings of leopards, tigers and sloth bears. Satpura is also India’s only park to offer walking safaris.

12 Days & 10 Nights

Day 1: Fly to Mumbai (N)

Day 2: Mumbai

Arrive in Mumbai (Bombay) and transfer to The Leela for an overnight stay. (N)

Day 3: Fly to Nagpur • Tadoba-Andhari National Park

Fly to Nagpur and transfer to Tadoba-Andhari National Park where an estimated 100 tigers roam the park. Spend 3 nights at Svasara Jungle Lodge. (B, L, D)

Days 4-5: Tadoba-Andhari National Park

Spend 2 days exploring the park. As well as tigers, the park is also home to hyenas, Indian wild dogs, sloth bears, leopards and nearly 200 different species of birds. (B, L, D)

Day 6: Pench National Park

Travel to Pench for a 2-night stay at Jamtara Wilderness Camp. The reserve has extremely good tiger sighting opportunities and a varied fauna with sambar deer, dholes, leopards and nilgai seen regularly. Perennial springs, a meandering seasonal river, open terrain and sweeping teak forests make Pench undeniably one of India’s most beautiful national parks. (B, L, D)

Day 7: Pench National Park

Full day exploring the two routes through the national park. Optional night safari in the buffer zone. (B, L, D)

Day 8: Satpura National Park

Transfer to Satpura for 3 nights at Reni Pani Jungle Lodge. Activities offered in Satpura include canoe trips, walking tours and elephant safaris. It is India’s only national park to offer walking safaris, camping and trekking trips. (B, L, D)

Days 9-10: Satpura National Park

Explore Satpura by 4×4, on foot and by boat. The park’s limited exposure to humans, combined with the option of walking safaris in the core area, makes for an intimate wilderness experience. (B, L, D)

Day 11: Bhopal

Morning wildlife drive. Travel to Bhopal, visiting the 10,000-year-old rock shelters of Bhimbetka en route. The caves contain what are thought of as south Asia’s richest collection of prehistoric paintings. Overnight at Jehan Numa Palace. (B)

Day 12: Fly home

Transfer to the airport and fly home. (B)
