Cruise downstream from Dibrugarh along the Brahmaputra river. Discover the ancient capital of the Ahom kings, visit Hindu monasteries on one of the largest riverine islands, and take a 4×4 safari in search of the endangered one horned
rhino. Finish in Guwahati, a town renowned for its tantric traditions.

Day 1: Fly to Kolkata (N)

Day 2: Kolkata

Arrive and transfer to the Oberoi Grand for 2 nights. Afternoon at leisure. (N)

Day 3: Kolkata

Half-day tour of Kolkata’s colonial heritage. Afternoon optional visit to the Victoria Memorial and South Park Cemetery. (B)

Day 4: Dibrugarh

Fly to Dibrugarh. Board the RV Sukhapa RV Charaidew for 10 nights cruising the Brahmaputra river. (B, L, D)

Day 5: Sibsagar

Morning visit to Sibsagar, the one-time capital of the Kings of Assam. Have lunch at a tea estate before cruising to Majuli, the world’s largest riverine island. (B, L, D)

Day 6: Majuli island

Visit Auniati monastery with its eclectic museum. Attend a dance performance at Kamalabari monastery. (B, L, D)

Day 7: Jamuguri

Spend much of the day on the river, watching for water birds and river dolphins. Short visit to a tribal village. (B, L, D)

Day 8: Kaziranga National Park

Visit the temple town of Vishnath before a 4×4 ride through Kaziranga’s western range. (B, L, D)

Day 9: Kaziranga National Park

morning elephant ride, the best way to get really close to the rhinos and Kaziranga’s other mammals. Drive to Kaziranga’s little-visited eastern range, or the newly-opened Burapahar range, for a further 4×4 safari before returning to the boat. (B, L, D)

Day 10: Tezpur

Visit Tezpur’s sixth-century Da Parbatia temple. Cycle rickshaws will take you through the bazaars to Cole Park with its collection of medieval stone carvings. (B, L, D)

Day 11: Guwahati

Today is spent on the river. (B, L, D)

Day 12: Guwahati

Climb up to the pretty Aswaklanta temple before driving to the beautifully sited temple ruins of Madan Kamdev. Cruise to Sualkuchi. (B, L, D)

Day 13: Sualkuchi

Visit Sualkuchi and its weaving workshops, Nilachal hill with its variety of birds and the poignant Commonwealth War Graves. Museums and bazaars are also visited. (B, L, D)

Day 14: Fly to Kolkata

Disembark and transfer to Guwahati airport. Fly to Kolkata. Overnight at the Oberoi Grand. (B)

Day 15: Fly Home

Transfer to the airport and fly home. (B)
